London 2012: Usain Bolt wins gold in the men’s 100 metres at the London Games

LONDON—Usain Bolt wins gold in the men’s 100 metres at the London Games.

Bolt joined Carl Lewis as only the second man to go back-to-back in track's biggest race. Bolt's training partner and fellow Jamaican, Yohan Blake, finished second in 9.75. American Justin Gatlin took bronze in 9.79.

Bolt fell shy of his world record of 9.58 seconds but improved on the 9.69 he ran four years ago in Beijing to enter his name, once again, in the Olympic record book.

After taking half a victory lap around the track, he stopped, kissed the track and gave his now-famous "To The World" pose, pointing both fingers in the air while the fans screamed.

NBC: 'No Offense Was Intended' By Commercial That Played After Gabby Douglas Win

NBC apologized for the timing of one of its commercials that featured a monkey on the Olympic rings. The commercial was promoting NBC’s upcoming sitcom “Animal Practice” and it aired immediately after Bob Costas discussed Gabby Douglas’ gold-medal winning effort in the women’s all-around gymnastics. You can see the awkward segue below:

NBC says no offense was intended by a poorly timed promotional ad featuring a monkey on gymnastics rings that aired on the network directly following a commentary by Bob Costas on Gabby Douglas' gold medal inspiring other African-American girls to take up the sport.

Teenage Drivers vs. Judgemental Adults

Young-Driver-Confidence
Since my first time driving I feel more confident on the road.  Driver’s training has made me feel more confident on the road.
Many people assume that because we are teenagers driving on the road they think we want to show off and go fast but in some cases that isn’t the case. Many teenagers have had experience with drivers training and I don’t believe older people don’t realize that we are trained to drive safe.
Now, I’m not defending every teenager because there are some idiotic ones who do drive fast and show off. I learned in my in-class sessions with young drivers that there is actually a small percentage of teenagers that actually go fast to show off.
I saw an internet meme that said “driving with parents” and it shows a picture of a teenager driving calmly with a parent and then the lower half of the picture “Driving with friends” and it’s a jeep with teenagers where they were going fast and being idiots.  It’s a funny picture because in some cases it’s true..
I understand why people are judgemental with teenagers driving on the road, but they really don’t realize that most teenagers are well-behaved drivers.
So the next time you see a teen getting gas, don’t assume that they be throwing dust at you on their way out.  Like ever adult, every teenager is different too!

Lithuanian who gave Nazi salute against Nigeria fined

Nigeria’s basketball team D’Tigers lost the match against Lithuania but there is something to cheer up their fans outside the court. In another type of court it was full points for the pride of the country.
A Lithuanian man who gave a Nazi salute during the match between both countries has become the first person to be convicted of a racially aggravated offence at the Games and fined £2,500. He was told that his behaviour and that of other Lithuanian fans was “despicable”.

The Team USA Men's Basketball team look to continue their unbeaten run in the 2012 Olympics this afternoon when they face Nigeria at 5:15pm eastern time on NBC Sports Network. The US are overwhelming 42 point favorites in the game.

The Nigerians are the 21st ranked team in the world according to FIBA while the US is #1, but that doesn't even fully illustrate the gap between the two. The US has complied 852 points in the FIBA ranking system while Nigeria has just 67.6. The Americans are coming off a game against Tunisia in which they won by 47, yet failed to cover the spread. In fact, Tunisia even took the lead on 3 separate occasions.
