Track Review: Joules, 'Aunty Dupe'

Kayode (Joules) Oguntayo recently released a new single titled ‘Aunty Dupe’, he is signed to the Born Kings crew that includes the likes of Ajebutter22 (“Senrenre” and “Omo Pastor”). Joules is an upcoming rapper who has been on the up and up from his mixtape “JoulesDaKid-LazyGNius: The Mixtape Vol1” which was released about a year ago.

This is definitely my favorite of all the tracks joules has released so far. He curls his words around the sweet harmony of drums, congas and base amongst others as the song starts with the usual head bobbing, pop beats, that hits you first as the approximately four minutes song begins to run followed by an all male chord chorus sang in mostly yoruba language.
Music production was on point, Chordatic Beats pulled it through as they used hip-hop influences to create an infectious, wholly modern African sound. Joules can be heard in the mix intermittently chanting ‘Aunty Dupe' as the chorus endures but he comes fully alive in the verses.

In Aunty Dupe, he maintains that he is “Uncle Dele” and that he has found a wife in "Dupe". He maintained the upbeat tempo in throughout this track and has a classy “Yoruba flow”. Lyrically Joules achieves the some success in this track as he poetically attracts his audience with some rhymes like “being broke is a joke and my life’s not funny“.

“Aunty Dupe” is barely days old, yet it's gained a wide acceptance that is staggering although not surprising. Joulesdakid is one of the young talents we have around who is set for the larger stages of the world and has got what it takes to be here a while longer than imagined.

Expect this track to be well played on all radio stations, clubs and parties.
